Big Leap / Senior individual contributor

Senior Applied AI& Platform Engineer

The opportunity

Build systems operators can trust.

Role profile

Senior individual contributor

At Big Leap, we build enterprise AI and data platforms for research, data processing, and evidence-backed report generation. We combine multi-source ingestion, retrieval, agent orchestration, and production-grade delivery in environments where accuracy, security, and reliability matter.

We are looking for a senior engineer who can turn ambitious AI workflows into dependable products and own outcomes from first hypothesis through verified production behavior.

What you will own

(02)

  1. 01

Build and harden services for research, data-processing, and report-generation workflows.

  2. 02

Design resilient ingestion and retrieval pipelines with normalization, deduplication, provenance, and clear contracts.

  3. 03

Develop long-running and parallel workflows with explicit state, retries, recovery, and useful observability.

  4. 04

Integrate models, agents, tools, APIs, enterprise data sources, and downstream applications through maintainable interfaces.

  5. 05

Diagnose failures across code, data, infrastructure, deployment, permissions, and external dependencies.

  6. 06

Improve CI/CD, secrets handling, monitoring, runbooks, and operational tooling.

  7. 07

Turn evolving stakeholder needs into clear scope, acceptance criteria, ownership, and measurable outcomes.

What you bring

(03)

  1. 01

A record of shipping and operating production software.

  2. 02

Strong backend or platform engineering across APIs, asynchronous processing, data contracts, and failure recovery.

  3. 03

Experience with Python or a comparable production language.

  4. 04

Fluency debugging with logs, traces, database state, artifacts, and version evidence.

  5. 05

Sound judgment around cloud delivery, CI/CD, secrets, enterprise security, and incomplete requirements.

Helpful experience

Retrieval and vector search; agent orchestration; financial or research data; distributed workers; evaluation frameworks; cloud platforms; or automated report and document generation.

How you work

Signals over slogans.

The strongest candidates make complex systems easier to reason about, operate, and improve.

01

Production-minded.

You know the gap between a successful demo and a system operators can trust.

02

Evidence-first.

You test competing explanations, trace failures end to end, and verify fixes where they matter.

03

Outcome-oriented.

You move work across boundaries while keeping decisions, risks, and ownership visible.

04

Security-aware.

You respect access controls, protect sensitive information, and work well with security partners.

05

Direct and sustainable.

You surface uncertainty early, write useful handoffs, and improve the system instead of relying on heroics.

Your first 90 days

Own a meaningful cross-system improvement, reduce a recurring source of failure or manual work, and leave behind a reusable test, diagnostic, alert, contract, or operating tool.
